Where does the money come from?
For the ppl with millions in gold..where does your money originally come from?
I know that money is usually gained from farming ectos or rare items..but where does THAT money come from? is it just money filtering from the little gains- adding up? or is it money received from NPC's? |

Search Ftw?
Generally: Farming/Power Trading/Running/Random Exploits EDIT: Quote:
First, lemme mention (again..) Search FTW Power Trading - [Pwˆer Traëdíng] : 1) The use of exploiting another's in game knowledge of valuable items, by spamming the phrase "WTB GOLDS! PM!" in areas such as Kamadan District 1, or Lion's Arch District 1. Last edited by I Might Avenge U; Mar 05, 2008 at 03:21 AM // 03:21.. |

Well, like all MMO's. It starts with everyone being poor, and killing the "A Giant Rat" and selling the pelt. Then after a while they keep moving up the chain and getting more and more currency just by killing monsters to where they start to buy "Rare" items to hoard/sell to other rich players.
Generally, all the gold in the game has come from quest rewards, vanquishing, coin drops, and merching. Trading only redistributes the wealth. (There's more sources of gold than just that, but I don't know them all). Last edited by Kumu Honua; Mar 05, 2008 at 03:23 AM // 03:23.. |

People keep saying "Trading" or other similar things, but the OP was asking where gold actually comes from.
If you buy low and sell high, you did not add any gold to the economy. You only redistributed it. Gold enters the economy by the monster drops, quest rewards and merchants buying things. When you trade someone it's a net zero transaction. He gains X gold, but you lose Y gold. No gold was created. |

The answer is that money comes from thousands of dead monsters, quest rewards, and stuff being sold to merchants. The many players that killed lots of critters, sold the drops to merchants, picked up the gold coins and collected the quest rewards. Farming rare items doesn't create gold (Unless sold to a merchant), it only redistributes the gold that was created by others doing the actions that actually create gold. |

Also, I know it's a long long time ago, but in 2005 (I think) the merchants reset and people were able to buy sup vigs/absorbtion runes for 250 gold. Anet decided not to reset the servers and let them all cash it in and gain millions instantly.
Other than that, just farm to bring money into the economy, and power trade to boost your personal cash. |
